Special for The Squall

Wings n’ Things is a small family-owned take out restaurant that is lost among Dexter’s many popular restaurants such as Aubree’s or Red Brick. Nestled on the corner of Broad Street, you could easily past it if you don’t pay attention but you better double back and stop in for some inexpensive and delicious food.

As we first walk win, we were greeted by friendly cashier and a waft of delicious scent from the grill. You can immediately see how small the restaurant. The entrance look straight into the kitchen. We happened to go after the dinner time rush, so there was no wait. The cashier was very helpful and patient as we look over their large menu. We are able to order and get our food in about 10 minutes.

For about $25, you are able to order from an array of choices from wings and tenders to burgers and pizza. Starting with a simple appetizer of Cheesy Fries. A large portion of fries came out crispy and covered with a generous amount of nacho cheese. The nacho cheese was very reminiscent of movie theater nacho cheese. For $6.95, you kinda wish the cheese was better but overall not bad.

Wings 'n Things

Since the restaurant is called “Wings n’ Things” we had to see if their wings stand up to their name. Offering both buffalo and boneless with seven various sauces, we decided to order six mild BBQ boneless wings.  Coated with a sweet and tangy BBQ sauce with a slight kick, the crispy and tender wings definitely stand up to their name.

For a satisfying experience, you would also have to try some of “Things” that the restaurant offers. We ordered a single ⅓ lb Dreadnought Burger and a Grilled BBQ Chicken Breast sandwich. The burger was served with all the usual topping and a delicious tangy BBQ sauce. The burger was very juicy and flavorful. It’s hard to find a grilled chicken that is not overly dry, but Wings n’ Things’ nails it perfectly. The chicken was juicy and tender.

Wings n’ Things is just native to Dexter. Throughout the United States there are 30 other Wings n’ Things locations ranging from California all the way to New York. However, the Wings n’ Things in Dexter is the only one in the whole state of Michigan.

Wings n’ Things started long ago with a wing and a prayer. A few siblings had decided that life in small town Upstate New York had minimal opportunities for wing fanatics such as themselves; they needed more. They wanted people to appreciate wings as much as they did. They worked tirelessly and finally, in 1982, the first Wings n’ Things opened in Pacific Beach, San Diego. Since their first opening, the company has spread its wings across the United States and grown to 20 restaurants and still counting.Wings n’ Things is committed to fresh, quality food and to serve you the best wings ‘n’ things this nation has ever tasted.

After having experience this little gem in Dexter, we give this restaurant a rating of  3 of 4 stars. The service was very nice. The food we ordered was good but would definitely need to try their other items. The ambiance wasn’t anything special but it work for being just a take out restaurant.

Overall, definitely a restaurant you won’t drive by again.
