Dexter High School Drama presents… Disney’s Lion King Junior!
Showcasing the quirky characters we grew to love as children and beautiful renditions of our favorite songs, such as “Hakuna Matata” and “Grasslands Chant,” this musical has it all. With love, laughter, vengeance, melancholy, and so much more, this musical guarantees your emotions a seat on the theatrical roller coaster.
The cast includes 53 students from both Mill Creek and DHS who sing and dance their way into your heart with ease. AJ Gray, a seventh grader, takes on the role of young Simba, and senior Jared Scott, as full-grown Simba, both present the character in such a way that brings him to life. Gray interacts with his famous counterpart Nala, played by eighth-grader Eliza Colby, as if lion interaction is second nature to him.
The musical provides a smooth transition of Nala’s character from Colby to junior Mattie Seagraves, who plays adult Nala. By showing the progression of these characters in such a unique way, you are sure to fall for both of the portrayals.
Walk through the jungle to come see opening night Friday, October 20th at 7 p.m. in the CPA. But if you get lost on your way there, don’t worry. Other opportunities to see Disney’s Lion King Jr. present themselves on Saturday, October 21, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday, October 22, at 2 p.m.
