#5 Austrailian Tourism Trailer
Danny McBride and Chris Hemsworth shine in this Crocodile Dundee spoof trailer. Leading up to the Super Bowl, trailers featuring Hugh Jackman, Margot Robbie, Russell Crowe, and several others made audiences believe that a Crocodile Dundee sequel was in the works. However, everyone was fooled when it all turned out to be an elaborate advertising campaign for Australian tourism. Bravo indeed.
#4 Time of My Life-NFL
This hilarious spoof on Dirty Dancing shows New York Giants quarterback, Eli Manning, and wide receiver, Odell Beckham Jr., dancing to Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes’ “Time of My Life.” If the passion they put into the dance wasn’t funny enough, the reaction from their coaches and teammates is the true icing on the cake. Seeing two big NFL personalities let loose and have fun was truly priceless to watch.
#3 Doritos VS. Mountain Dew
The rap battle of the century occurred when Peter Dinklage, representing Doritos Blaze, faced off against Morgan Freeman, representing Mountain Dew Ice. Dinklage started off the battle rapping “Look at Me Now” with Busta Rhymes, and finished with Morgan Freeman teaming up with Missy Elliot to “Get Your Freak On.” Both did great jobs and were very amusing, to say the least. Who won the battle? The choice is yours.
#2 It’s a Tide Ad
Tide had to undergo major damage control to the company’s after the negativity the Tide Pod Challenge brought upon them. They attempted to do this by releasing five connected Super Bowl ads. Each add starts as what appears to be a different name brand, but turns out to be just a Tide ad. Stranger Things star David Harbour stars in all five commercials as the spokesperson and gives laughs all around. The pure uniqueness of this running gag will make it remembered for years to come.
#1 Alexa Loses Her Voice
The crown jewel of this year’s Super Bowl was Amazon’s Alexa ad. After Alexa loses her voice, Amazon CEO, Jeff Bezos, gives the call to go with alternative voices for the personal assistant device. With cameos from Gordon Ramsay, Cardi B, Rebel Wilson, and Sir Anthony Hopkins, this add gave gut busting laughs all the way through. In a very bland and uneventful year for ads, “Alexa Loses Her Voice” was without a doubt the funniest and most memorable Super Bowl commercial of 2018.
