An inside look into one of The Squall staff members’ favorite restaurants off the beaten path

Next to a liquor store and a gas station in a small shopping complex, Juicy Kitchen is the definition of a diamond in the rough. Their focus is health food using all locally-sourced ingredients.
This charming breakfast and lunch cafe first started as a home delivery service in 2010 by Susan and George Todoroff. After two years, they purchased the cafe.
“I feel like a lot of people think healthy food is just raw vegetables,” Susan Todoroff said. “I wanted to show people that healthy food can be both filling and delicious.”
I first discovered Juicy Kitchen in 2015 and have been a regular ever since.
Their menu contains a variety of choices ranging from Breakfast Sliders to Stuffed French Toast.
My personal favorite is the Good Morning Sunshine which is described on their menu as “our grilled whole wheat Crackly Banana bread, fresh fruit, natural peanut butter, Greek yogurt & a drizzle of maple syrup.”
Another favorite of mine is the Health Nut green smoothie, but the drinks change on a regular basis.
My top lunch picks are the JK Club, a chicken sandwich with avocado, bacon, tomato, lettuce, and zesty ranch dressing, and the fresh fruit and quinoa salad. The staff is always very friendly and makes you feel welcome.
They do a great job of fulfilling their mission statement which is listed on their website: “We take pleasure in providing healthy, gourmet breakfast and lunch, using local purveyors and wholesome ingredients.”
Although Juicy Kitchen focuses on healthier options, whether you’re a health nut or a kale-hater, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
