The news is filled with riots, protests, and awful violence.
For what?
For the discrimination against races and the protests following controversial police brutality cases. The Black Lives Matter movement is protesting the constant discrimination against African Americans and the police brutality that goes with it.
However, Black Lives Matter isn’t just about police brutality, it’s about the superiority of blacks over other races based on historic experiences. BLM labels themselves as “The voice of all types of black people” such as gay, lesbian, disabled, and others. The group was founded in 2013 to protest against violence toward blacks, but since then violence has only increased.
In order for everyone to be happy and accepting, Black Lives Matter needs to end.
“In today’s age, Black Lives Matter is taking it over the top,” sophomore Luke Burke said.
If this organization continues, then there will be a greater divide between races; it won’t make every race equal because of people speaking out against black discrimination. With all the protests and hatred that goes with the Black Lives Matter movement, it’s very hard to believe that BLM is working for the greater good.
In the last 613 days, Black Lives Matter have demonstrated 1,241 protests. All of these protests are based on the destruction of white supremacy.
Black Lives Matter portrays themselves as a movement speaking for the silent majority. However, the movement hasn’t been spreading any positive words.
On the official website Black Lives Matter says “Black Lives Matter is an ideological and political intervention in a world where Black lives are systematically and intentionally targeted for demise.”
BLM is stating that they only protest without violence. However, it has been seen and proven that that isn’t the case. In a recent presidential rally, Donald Trump was targeted by people belonging to the Black Lives Matter movement. Trump answered with “All lives matter.”
There’s no question that if Black Lives Matter isn’t stopped, and if it grows into something much greater, that the United States will have a huge issue to deal with.
With the Black Lives Matter movement around, it isn’t serving justice for African American’s and their rights. Instead it shows disrespect for every other race in and outside of the United States.
Black Lives Matter isn’t going to help the justice system, it shines light on different incidents that have impacted the black community in the past three years. There’s no question that the African American community has been targeted in several police brutality cases, however, harmful protests shouldn’t be the answer either.
Black Lives Matter emphasizes the deaths of African American men under the age of 30 being shot in the streets by police. What Black Lives Matter doesn’t tell us is who pulls the trigger first. Studies show that homicide is the leading cause of death for black males between the ages of 15-34. These aren’t caused by police officers.
This organization was created because of police brutality against African Americans. Today, it is more focused on the people they believe don’t give blacks the opportunity to live a free lifestyle.
Black lives shouldn’t be the only lives that matter. All lives across the world should matter. No matter how big or small you are, what your skin color is, everyone’s life should matter.
