When you order from a fast food restaurant, you have a main dish, and usually fries on the side. After you finish your food, it is always so satisfying to snack on some super delicious fries. Fries are a vital part of a good fast food meal, and no two restaurants do it the same way. Due to this, The Squall tallied up fast food fry favorites from 252 DHS students. Chick-Fil-A, Culvers, Arby’s, McDonald’s, and Wendy’s are the top ranking competitors, but only one can claim the “Best Fry” award.

#5 Wendy’s:

With 8.7% of the votes from the survey, Wendy’s is coming in at 5th place. Wendy’s is a solid
choice when looking for quality fries. They are perfectly fried and sprinkled with just enough
salt. Wendy’s fries “always have the perfect crunch, are always warm, and are always perfectly
salted,” sophomore Millie Truesdell said. Wendy’s is a good choice, but quite a few others claim Wendy’s fries can be too salty or not salty enough. Overall, Wendy’s fries are a good side and a good choice, but unfortunately, not much more than that. Wendy’s has potential, delivering them safely into 5th place.

#4 Culver’s:

With 10.7% of the student body rooting for them, Culver’s crinkle-cut fries have worked their
way to 4th place. “They aren’t too greasy, and they aren’t too salty,” junior Elijah Smith said.
Culver’s fries are a perfect and classic fry. These fries are ideal if you are craving fries without the greasy fingers afterward. Culver’s fries are always made fresh. Though they are a good classic, they lack a good crunch. Unfortunately, despite Culver’s delivering a great box of fries, that keeps them at fourth.

#3 Arby’s:

Arby’s slides into 3rd place with a 15.5% vote from the dexter student body. Arby’s makes a mean curly fry, and they also have a unique taste that sets them apart from the competition, “I like their curly fries, and the have really good seasoning,” junior Alena Blumberg states. These fries have a marvelous flake and delicious crunch to them, making them perfectly “oily and crispy,” junior Olivia Shaieb said. It is safe to say that these fries are really something to behold.

#2 Chick-Fil-A:

With 22.2 % of the Dexter student body voting for them, Chick-fil-A and their fries have landed in a safe 2nd place. These fries are a solid choice for many reasons, but Chick-fil-A has been carried heavily by their iconic waffle fries, “You don’t get them anywhere else!” junior Olivia Shaieb said. When asked what her favorite thing about Chick-fil-A’s fries is, sophomore Marga Hauman answered, “Ooooo! The waffle fries for sure.” Yes, these fries are really good, but little things like lack of seasoning, or not enough crunch is a reminder of why these fries are 2nd.

#1 McDonald’s:

With 38.9% of the student body in their favor, McDonalds fries has made their way to 1st place. Their fries are the favorites, and for good reason. “They’re always fresh and always super salty,” sophomore Mary Salisbury said. “They’re classic, and just taste good”, junior Noah Boyce added. McDonald’s has mastered their fries, making them easy to eat, perfectly warm and crispy, and with the perfect amount of salt. McDonald’s and their perfect fries have risen to the top, and, as senior Conor Sweeny said, “No other place does it like them.”
