Bigalora Wood Fired Cucina is a modern and casual Italian restaurant located in Arbor Hills shopping mall. The owner and Italian chef Luciano DelSignore won James Beard Award three times and that’s why he’s really well known.

The restaurant is mainly famous for their Neapolitan-style pizza, cooked in only 90 seconds at 900 degrees in our custom-built wood burning oven.

None of us had been there before; however, we all knew it was gonna be a very good as soon as we stepped in the restaurant as we walked in a great atmosphere with delicious fresh Mediterranean smells.

The menu offers a big variety of different dishes between $6 and $16, which, considering the high quality of the food, is really cheap and affordable. We each ordered a different dish and shared them with each other. We got risotto balls, margherita pizza, strozzapreti norcina pasta and roasted sweet potatoes. We loved all the dishes especially because all ingredients were fresh and simple, they were also really well presented. Something to highlight is the margherita pizza, which is offered in almost every restaurant, but none of them are as good as this one. It has a unique taste because the ingredients that they used were fresh and because of they way they cooked it.

After we were done with our meals, the waitress offered us the dessert menu, so we decided to get vanilla and chocolate gelato. The waitress told us that the gelato is homemade and we all loved it and thought it was actually the best ice cream we ate in the U.S.

Something that make this restaurant stand out from other italian restaurant is that it is actually really similar to authentic italian food, unlike most other highly americanized ones, like Olive Garden and Bravo.

The service was great. They served us quickly and kindly and helped us when we asked suggestion. Unlike many other restaurant in America, they didn’t make us feel rushed by giving us the check right after we finished eating, for example. It was instead a very relaxing dinner.

We enjoyed a lot both the food and the organization of the restaurant, however the only thing that can be a little bit annoying is that, as the restaurant shares a small parking lot with many other stores in the mall, it’s pretty hard to find a parking spot.
