A pop punk side project makes their way into the spotlight.

Formed in a little village of Wilmette, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, Fall Out Boy made their way into our radios with their pop rock music. Rooting from Chicago’s hardcore punk scene, bassist Pete Wentz and guitarist Joe Trohman formed this band as a pop punk side project. Vocalist and guitarist Patrick Stump and drummer Andy Hurley would join the band later. This four man group hit the stage with their first debut album, Take This to Your Grave, in 2003. The band gained success and a dedicated fanbase and their music took off from there.

From lyrics written in a trailer, Fall Out Boy premiered their first single “Centuries” from their sixth studio album, American Beauty/American Psycho, September 8, 2014.

“Centuries” demands you to remember the band with lyrics like “Some legends are told. Some turn to dust or to gold. But you will remember me. Remember me for centuries.” This song is really fitting since the band just came back from a four-year hiatus.

With great lyric sung with good vocals by Stump and beats by Hurley, their first song will be remembered. Second song of Fall out Boy’s album “Immortal” was released on October 14, 2014 for Disney’s Big Hero Six. This song is more upbeat accompanied with other not familiar instruments. Lyrics are fitting with the movie about a boy and his companion: “I try to picture me without you but I can’t. ‘Cause we could be immortals, immortals.”

Fall Out Boy officially released American Beauty/American Psycho on January 20, 2015. They wanted to ensure guitar music a place in Top 40 airplay, and they knew the only way to do it would be to marry the most popular genres of the day with their characteristic sound: Stump’s falsetto and Wentz’s bass lines.

Having started with two upbeat rock singles, the album offer more laid back pop singles like “The Kids Aren’t Alright” and “Jet Pack Blues.” “Irresistible,” was a tribute to Sid and Nancy, a popular song that played to the band’s old Warped Tour fan base, and also to the days when their biggest concern was getting the girl.

This could be seem in lyrics like “And I love the way you hurt me. It’s irresistible, yeah.” The best song from the is found on “Uma Thurman,” with an intro that samples the Munsters theme song. This song is very exciting with guitarist Trohman and drummer Hurley’s most virtuosic.

Having come from a small suburb, Fall Out Boy has come a long way. This sixth studio album had many singles reach Billboard’s top hit list. If Fall Out Boy keeps this up, their name will go down in history.
