Pop sensation Justin Bieber, known for his most recent poor decisions, released his eleventh album since his first album, My World, was released in 2009.  Bieber needed an unforgettable comeback from his unacceptable behavior to redeem himself after the confiscation of his pet monkey in Munich, a DUI in 2014, and a brothel visit in Rio de Janeiro.

Purpose was made available for purchase on November 13, 2015. Purpose is an album that consists of music that sounds like nothing you’ve ever heard before.  The album begins with “Mark my words” which is a slower tempo song but contains a deeper meaning.  Bieber says, “you’re the only reason why, oh I don’t wanna live a lie, mark my words, mark my words.”

I think what is being explained here is that he wants to be truthful not only with those around him, but he’s also verbally committing a promise to himself to stay humble.   I find that it’s a nice first track to start the album.  It incorporates a solid beat but uses Bieber’s vocals that add a nice touch to the backdrop of the lyrics.

“I’ll Show You” is the second track on the album, Purpose.  The track encases a message that explains what he feels like as an artist and it makes you rethink about how your life so easy in comparison.   An example of how he feels is when he says, “cause life’s not easy.  I’m not made out of steel.  Don’t forget that I’m human, don’t forget that I’m real.”

I think this is true of all artist and celebrities, because the world doesn’t treat them like they’re “real” people.  We tend to idolize them so much and they’re always in the spotlight.  This is one of my favorite songs on the album because it does justify his feelings.

“Where Are Ü Now” is the 11th track and is an upbeat type of song that makes you want to dance.  There’s a special echo effect used quite a bit during instrumentals and vocals.  What sounds sort of like a dolphin is actually Bieber’s voice that has been modified by pitch and pace, and I find this very unique and interesting.  “Where Are Ü Now” is a song that can be listened to by people of all ages, male or female because of its trendy beat.

Bieber’s final song on Purpose is called, “All in it.”  This song somewhat reminded me of one of his previous songs on an older album.  However, I prefer this song over the older one.

“All in it” eludes to the fact that when Bieber made his decision to get into the music industry from the beginning he was “All in it,” and there is no turning back now.  His message is, “don’t do nothin’ less your hearts in it.”

At the end of the song Bieber talks about his relationship with God and how he trusts in him with his decisions that he has to make even in the toughest times of life.

This album is nothing like Bieber’s other songs or albums.  The only downfall is that some of the lyrics in a few of his songs are a little confusing at times.  Purpose really speaks from the heart and provides a deeper meaning for his feelings. However, it does not necessarily cover up the fact that he acted out, but explains that he wants to live a normal life but is always enduring judgement by the world.
