In Gomez’s new album Revival she starts it off with the song “Revival” talking about how she’s breaking away from her old life in search for something better.
Selena’s first line is, “I dive into the future, But I’m blinded by the sun, I’m reborn in every moment, So who knows what I’ll become.” Selena has a variety of music in her album from slow, calm music like “Nobody“ to more upbeat and fast songs such as “Me & the Rhythm.”
Gomez pours her soul into every song she writes and sings with such grace. One of her songs, “Sober,” stands out in a different way; you can’t make an exact connection with a person she’s writing about. She says, “when the bottles done, you pull me closer.”
I think she’s talking about how when people aren’t in a clear state of mind they’re fun and great, but then the next day it goes back to how it always is. Gomez talks a lot about love and heartbreak throughout her album. The songs “Same Old Love” stands out quite a bit from the rest for a few reasons. Not only is it extremely catchy but it’s also about her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber. It seems to be that many of Selena’s songs reflect Justin in some kind of way.
Listening to the album you can’t help but really listen to the words she’s singing and the message she is trying to portray. I would say 12 of the 14 songs are extremely well written. You can tell she really puts a lot of work into creating her music. Her music is growing as she does, and for some people that’s hard to accept.
While listening to the album every word Selena writes can relate to many people on different levels. You can expect to feel all emotions from happy, sad, to excited and hopeless.
Her words inspire you to become a better person. After listening to her album you can see how Gomez has really transformed into a strong independent women.
There is much more to come from Selena Gomez.
