2018 NFL Draft

The 2018 NFL draft has come and gone and now it’s time to take a look at teams that are sitting the best after 256 picks. One of the teams that performed the best in the draft was the New York Giants. GM Dave Gettleman picked up Penn State RB Saquon Barkley who will have a major impact on the team along with G Will Hernandez and an OLB Lorenzo Carter, combined will make for an impressive offensive line. The Atlanta Falcons were looking to double down on an already impressive roster with GM Thomas Dimitroff picking up WR Calvin Ridley and CB Isaiah Oliver will both have significant impacts on the team’s future. The Chicago Bears picked up some very talented players which includes possibly one of the draft’s best linebackers, Georgia’s Roquan Smith. Also nabbing a great center, Iowa’s James Daniels. All three of these teams are going to have great seasons next year and compete for a chance to play in Super Bowl LIII in Atlanta.

Boston Red Sox Record Season

The Boston Red Sox joined five other teams in the MLB since 1920 to win at least 17 of the first 19 games. Also, they are the only team to do it within the last 30 plus years with the Milwaukee Brewers doing it last in the season of 1987. The Red Sox lost their first game of the season on Opening Day but then went on to win 17 of the next 19 games, which ties their franchise record for a 19 game stretch. The team doesn’t show any signs of slowing down with the highest winning percentage out of any team in the MLB and one of the top run differentials. The team’s success this year can be pointed to multiple different factors, such as their batting lead by Mookie Betts with a .344 batting average. Their pitching is also seemingly unstoppable right now lead by Rick Porcello with 4 wins and an ERA of 2.23. If the Red Sox keep their season going the way it is now they will be a top contender to win their 9th World Series title.

PGA Players Championship

Even with a double bogey on the last hole, Webb Simpson took home the 2018 Players championship four strokes up on his closest opponent. The total payout for first place was 1.98 million dollars, which was a substantial jump up from last year’s total. Simpson had a great start to the weekend putting in the work and finishing with a 66-63-69 for the first three rounds. With a seven-shot lead going into the final on Sunday, Simpson cruised home to take home the win. This will be Simpson’s second-biggest victory of his career with the first being his 2012 U.S. Open Championship.

NHL Playoffs

After a long and intense season, the final four teams have been decided. The Washington Capitals, Vegas Golden Knights, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Winnipeg Jets are all going to compete to play in the Stanley Cup Finals. On the Eastern Conference side, there are the Washington Capitals who have not been this far in the playoffs with Alex Ovechkin and are hungry for their first ever Stanley Cup Championship in franchise history. They are up against the Tampa Bay Lightning, who have not made a Stanley Cup final appearance in the past three seasons. On the Western Conference side, there is possibly the biggest story of the year as the Vegas Golden Knights who look to continue their amazing season. To get to the finals, the Knights will still have to get past the Winnipeg Jets which have also never won a Stanley Cup in their franchise history. All in all, many of the predictions made at the start did not have these teams in the final four which should make for an interesting run for the cup.
