A look into the differences between Freshman and Seniors as we close the 2023-24 school year.

How are you feeling as we are near the end of your freshman year?
I’m feeling pretty stressed because I want to keep my grades the same so I can end the year good, but also relieved that the year is almost over.
Where do you see yourself as a senior?
I see myself getting better at soccer and taking on a bigger role on the team.
What has been your favorite part of this year?
Having fun classes with my friends and being able to meet new people.
Favorite class you took this year?
Photojournalism, because I had a lot of friends in the class and it was fun.
Are you a part of any extracurricular activities?
Yeah, I play soccer.
What preconceived notions did you have about high school that have now changed?
I thought that the upperclassmen would be scarier but they are definitely not. Also, some classes have been harder than I expected.
Bella Sanders
Height: 5’4″
Age: 14
How are you feeling as we are near the end of your freshman year?
I am really excited for it to end, and I think that it was a really good year. It was really fun, and I made a lot of new friends this year.
Where do you see yourself as a senior?
I see myself growing academically a lot and I hope to be a part of volleyball and lacrosse and I get much better.
What has been your favorite part of this year?
Yearbook and being a part of sports teams.

Yearbook!
Are you a part of any extracurricular activities?
Lacrosse and volleyball.
What preconceived notions did you have about high school that have now changed?
I thought it was going to be really scary and that I would get lost.
Have you reached the goals you’ve made in the beginning of the year?
To make new friends and find my way around the school
Will Bowling

How are you feeling as we are near the end of your freshman year?
Not good, sophomore year is going to be hard, because freshman year is hard.
Where do you see yourself as a senior?
I think I’ll grow as a person, I think I’ll be like 6 foot
What has been your favorite part of this year?
Track and field, going to meets and just running with my friends.
Favorite class you took this year?
Miss. Hanson, integrative studies all the way

Football and track
What preconceived notions did you have about high school that have now changed?
I thought it was going to be a lot harder and it is ’till hard but I thought I was going to flunk out of high school as a freshman

In the first issue I asked if we made it, And we did.
Sophia Babe

How do you feel this year has gone for you?
It’s too slow, speed this up!
Plans after high school?
I am attending Michigan school of nursing and I’m going to be a psychiatric nurse practitioner.
Share a memorable experience from the past year
When Mrs. Denisco said “if the P is low, reject the ho.”
What was your first time at high school like?
I was so upset, I wanted to go home.
Are you a part of extracurricular activities?
I work and I play golf.
How do you feel the last day of high school is going to feel for you?
I’ll definitely miss some teachers here like Mrs. Stahl, Mrs. Doss, and Mrs. Tracy
Have you reached the goals you’ve made in the beginning of the year?
In the first issue, I asked my future self if I cried at my AP calc grade: I didn’t, and I was actually very proud of myself!
Addy Arbour

How do you feel this year has gone for you?
I can’t wait to get out of here but I am sad to be leaving Dexter
Plans after high school?
I’m planning on attending Michigan State University and I don’t know what I’m going to do when I’m older.
Share a memorable experience from the past year
When I got my baby Keisha in human development.
What was your first time at high school like?
I don’t really remember but it was during COVID and we only came to class for half a day.
Are you a part of extracurricular activities?
I am currently a part of the women’s water polo team, we aren’t doing very well.
How do you feel the last day of high school is going to feel for you?
It’s going to feel amazing because I don’t have to see anyone anymore.
Have you reached the goals you’ve made in the beginning of the year?
My goal was to graduate and I think it’s looking pretty good.
Noah Wiseman
Height – 5’5
Age- 18
How do you feel this year has gone for you?
Not too bad overall.
Plans after high school?
I don’t know which college yet, the idea is to major in english and creative writing and keep acting on the side.
Share a memorable experience from the past year
Directing a second theater show.
What was your first time at high school like?
Very intimidating, because I was in 7th grade doing improv and drama shows with a bunch of giant highschoolers but doing it in middle school and being here consistently made it less intimidating.
Are you a part of extracurricular activities?
Drama!
How do you feel the last day of high school is going to feel for you?
It’s a vexing feeling on one hand, it’s going to be very sad. I’m saying goodbye to all my friends but also I’m so ready to sleep in the next morning.
Have you reached the goals you’ve made in the beginning of the year?
Getting a consistent workout routine, if I can’t be tall, I’ll be buff.
