A quick snapshot into the forecast of teams

Women’s Basketball
The Dexter Women’s Basketball team has won 7 games this season and lost 6 as of Thursday, February 1. In a very close, low-scoring game against Tecumseh, the Women’s Basketball team won 26-22.
“We had to shoot a lot and they played a zone the whole game,” junior Kendall Rosevelt said.
Chelsea came to watch Dexter play Tecumseh on Friday, January 12, which was a benefit for Dexter because they didn’t give away any of their plays to Chelsea.
On Friday, January 19, Dexter played Chelsea. The score was super close throughout the entire game. The final score was 42-35. Dexter wasn’t able to take home the win; however, the Dreads put up a tough fight against Chelsea and gave it their all. As of February 8, the team will have about 5 games left. With their current record, the Women’s Basketball team should be able to conclude their season with a good record.
Wrestling
The DHS Wrestling squad turning heads all over the SEC. Their 15 – 12 record is already exceeding many expectations of this young, talented group.
“We’re strong, hardworking, and hungry,” senior captain George Deljevic said. These three words are all it takes to rack up many important wins as they edge toward a tricky part of their schedule. The team finds ways to bond on and off the mat, explaining their overall success. At a recent team bonding hosted by junior star, Jason Milkey, the team gathered around the ps4, taking turns playing Fortnite.
“It’s not a just a game, it’s a lifestyle,” sophomore Dylan Lorincz said.
Cracking jokes, chirping, and cheering each other on just enhances the tight bonds that are already connected between each player.
“Creating these memories evokes an innate joy that really makes me want to be apart of this team,” Lorincz said.
This Dexter team has lots of talent, many players on this team could make a state run, it just a matter of how hard they want to work. Make sure you support our Dreadnaught’s at future meets.
Hockey
The boy’s hockey team came into this season with a flame lit underneath them as an early playoff elimination last year left them wanting more, and it definitely showed. Starting the season on a high note, winning their first three games of the season and keeping a winning record of 12-8 the boys are showing to be a force to be reckoned with heading towards playoffs. The team’s success this year can be pointed to some key additions such as star freshmen goalie Chris Eberly and rookie junior Logan Eggleston. Another reason the team has had such success this season is the tremendous amount of work they have put in over the offseason.
“We’ve put in the work this season to be successful, so if my math is right we will do good in playoffs,” junior Logan Eggleston said.
The team has drawn the Pinckney Pirates for the first round of playoffs and if they win they will play the winner of Chelsea and Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard.
Men’s Swim and Dive
The Dexter men’s swim and dive team have a lot to live up to this year, coming off of two straight state titles. Led by captains Alex Shehab, Sam Krahn, and Stephen Sterlitz, the team is attempting to replicate the recipe for success that has so far rewarded them with two back to back state titles.
“We practice five days a week, morning and afternoon,” Captain Sam Krahn said. “The first session is from 5:45 to 7:15 before school and after school we go from 3:30 to 6:00.”
To most people, teenagers especially, waking up and being at school by 5:45 A.M. is a nightmare in itself. But having a total of 4 hours of practice per day is unimaginable. It is enough to make anyone ask ‘why do it?’ The answer is too simple.
“For the boys,” sophomore Luke Sayler said.
Since the team spends so much time together both in and out of the water with after practice meals, the team dynamic is very interesting.
“The chemistry is pretty good,” freshman Josh Bergdolt said. “Practice is fun, people are great, and I just enjoy swimming.”
Due to this team attitude, their record this season is 5-2, and they’re looking to make another run at states this year.
